In 2007, Fondation Leducq established a two-year Transatlantic Fellowship Award to support the development of young researchers in cardiovascular and neurovascular disease. This award allowed outstanding junior investigators from North America and Europe to work internationally with one of the scientific teams already assembled under the Leducq Foundation Transatlantic Networks of Excellence program. In 2009, the Transatlantic Fellowship Award was replaced by the Fondation Leducq Career Development Award, which extends the opportunity to work internationally to both junior and senior investigators.
