  Transatlantic Networks of Excellence Grants

In 2004 the Fondation Leducq first awarded grants under the Transatlantic Networks of Excellence in Cardiovascular Research Program.  In 2007 this program was extended to include neurovascular disease.  Under the Transatlantic Networks program the foundation awards grants to collaborative teams of European and North American scientists.  The network structure is designed to allow researchers to take advantage of the strengths and resources on both sides of the Atlantic. The principal aims of the foundation in creating this program are: to develop international cardiovascular and neurovascular research networks which achieve an advantage through collaboration; to advance our knowledge of cardiovascular and neurovascular disease; to promote the application of that knowledge through the development of treatments or technologies which will improve human health; and to support the career development of young investigators in cardiovascular and neurovascular disease.

Awards under the Transatlantic Networks of Excellence program, US $6M over five years, are made in June.  The program will continue in 2010-2011, with up to four awards anticipated in June of 2011.  Information about applying to the program is available on this site under the Applications heading.
